Anthea Yeo Lee Kiow
Lecturer

Anthea was a rebellious teenager who disliked studying. But all that has changed.

After her ‘O’ Levels, Anthea continued her studies at a Polytechnic but soon lost interest and dropped out barely a few months after embarking on the course. She then decided to work, only to be dealt with hard knocks over a year. This was the impetus that prompted her to return to school.

Anthea did her ‘A’ Levels at Serangoon Junior College and obtained good results. This inspired her to take up a Degree in Accountancy at Nanyang Technological University. After graduating, she joined the Singapore International Airlines (SIA) as a Flight Attendant. To communicate and serve her customers better, she picked up language skills such as Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese.

She left SIA last year and was recruited as a Lecturer with the Business School at ITE College East. She currently teaches customer relations, social skills and grooming as well as elementary book-keeping. She also assisted in the development of a Beauty and Wellness course and introduced a new Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) – Fashion and Glam Club. Her responsibilities include liaising with industry partners to jointly host workshops on fashion and grooming for ITE students.

To equip herself with more knowledge in grooming skills, Anthea has attended various workshops conducted by well-known trainers like Suzenne Zheng and Jill Lowe.

Besides this, Anthea has a keen interest in psychology. As such, she is currently pursuing a Masters in Counselling offered by the University of Buffalo. She also went for a short course on counselling students with criminal records. From a former rebellious student to a lecturer who is able to inspire her students, Anthea is an example of how lifelong learning played an integral part in her career as an educator.
