At IMH, staff development is taken seriously: Each new staff has a training roadmap to help him or her grow from novice to specialist in a systematic fashion, ensuring that his or her potential is fully developed.

This commitment has garnered IMH the People Developer Standard. Training opportunities, availalable both locally and overseas, include the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) which was introduced by MOH to improve the quality and range of health services.

Besides re-employing and re-training older workers, including retired staff nurses, under the Nurses Everglow Programme, IMH is also among the first hospitals here to develop Nurse Scientists and Advanced Practice Nurses.

Its effort in developing and customising service quality training programmes to suit its needs earned it a top spot in the Excellent Service Award (EXSA).
