Metro understands this as 80% of its workforce has only secondary education or below. Staff sit for a
placement test before attending the appropriate level of training. And there is language lab in every store to practise
their English. The programme improves staff confidence and opens more doors to training for career advancement.
Metro is also a pioneer of the Retail Workforce Skills Qualifications System, with staff receiving
national certification when training ends. This not only boosts the workers' employability but also gives them skills
to perform better at work and enhance customers’ satisfaction!
