At 16, while waiting for his O level results, Rosdi’s father passed away. As he did not want to add to the financial burden of his family, he applied for an NOL sponsorship of a Diploma in Nautical Studies.

Rosdi got married in 1991 and took a shore job as a Marine Surveyor. He soon completed an ISM auditor course and found work as a Marine Superintendent.

He went on to complete an Advance Diploma in Business Management and continued to train in relevant courses to advance his career. Rosdi achieved a Master of Science in Maritime Studies this year, at 42.

Rosdi rose above his circumstances to excel in his career. Now he travels to conduct maritime related courses in Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
