Teck Soon started as an Aircraft apprentice but he upgraded his skills with Electronic and Communication Engineering courses which enabled him to take on duties in aircraft retrofitting service and maintenance of electrical, radar and communication systems.

In 1993, he pursued a part time Open University degree in Computer Science and emerged as a Silver Medalist.

His constant training provided the opportunity for him to make a career switch from a technical support officer to lecturer when he was already 40.

It was a challenge to strike a worklife balance, dealing with family obligations even as he worked full time and studied part- time but his determination paid off.
