From Monday 13 June 2005, Singapore’s news and talk station NewsRadio 93.8FM will be known as 938LIVE.
With its new brand identity 938LIVE – Gets You Talking, the station will expand its interactive talk programmes where listeners get to air their views and chat with newsmakers and experts.
The well-known Talkback will continue in Fresh, a new morning show hosted by Eugene Loh and Michelle Martin. Callers can also take part in their daily ‘live’ conversations with studio guests and 938LIVE journalists.
In For And Against on Express, the new evening show, Michael Martin and Mabel Lee persuade callers to take a stand on a possibly contentious topic. Every Monday they are joined by celebrity guests arguing their case, starting with Gurmit Singh and Pierre Png on 13 June 2005. Other celebrities expected over the following weeks include Tay Ping Hui, Joanne Peh and Melody Chen.
Lunchtime show F 3 (F-Cube) -- food, fun and feeling good -- takes interactive talk to yet another level. Callers can let off steam in Yakkety Yak, a light-hearted office chat segment, and take part in the new 938 Livewire game show.
Also making its debut is Body & Soul, Singapore’s first daily two-hour health and wellness talk show. Callers can pose questions to doctors and guests as they share their knowledge with hosts Deborah de Souza and Azlinda Mohd Said.
Ms Gerardine Tan, Senior Programme Director (938LIVE), says: “It’s the right time to take Talk Radio to another level. Over the years, Singaporeans have shown they’re no longer shy to speak up on air. For subjects close to their hearts, our callers have been known to voice candid views, ask tough questions and challenge conventional wisdom. And many are keen to share their experiences as well as learn from the experts.”
Other talk shows include favourites The Living Room on weekday mornings, and SportsZone and All About Foodon weekends. And prick up your ears for a weekly talk programme helmed by television sitcom star Irene Ang later this year.
938LIVE will still maintain its news edge which has enabled the station to attract 358,000 listeners every week. Besides half-hourly news and hourly business reports, listeners will get more in-depth coverage of major news and more ‘live’ on-location reports as events unfold.
‘Live’ broadcasts of happenings around town are another staple on the new 938LIVE. Listeners can look forward to these and other station events.
Ms Tan sums up the new station, saying: “The new 938LIVEis about news and issues that engage our listeners, lifestyle talk that energises and events that involve them. We want to create a new experience of talk radio that has spunk, soul and style.”
So, stay tuned to the new 938LIVE!!!
