Singapore Radio Awards is here again!

This is the second year which MediaCorp Radio is presenting the awards to honour the best in the local broadcasting industry. The Singapore Radio Awards 2005 presentation will be held on Friday, 21 October 2005 at Shangri-La Hotel. A total of 36 awards, including Favourite Radio Personality and Favourite Radio Station, will be given out.

This year’s Singapore Radio Awards will have five new categories: Best Radio Promotion, Most Creative Programme Trailer, Best Radio Show, Radio Personality of the Year – Media's Choice and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Senior General Manager (English Programming and Marketing) MediaCorp Radio, Ms Florence Lian, says: “Over time, we've seen how Singapore radio stations and radio personalities have increasingly evoked strong sentiments and loyalties from listeners. This often translates into fan followings for stations and DJs who have grown together with listeners and given them something to look forward to each day. There is no better way to celebrate the triumph of these emotions than through the Singapore Radio Awards where most winners will be voted by listeners themselves.”

As presenter of the Special Category Awards, Carlsberg will present Carlsberg Friendliest Radio Personality Awards to eight radio personalities.

Said Mr Mervin Sim, Managing Director of Carlsberg Singapore, “We are very honoured to present Carlsberg Friendliest Radio Personality Award for the second consecutive time. This award is grounded in Carlsberg’s “World of Friends” brand essence and we hope to further our message of friendship to listeners in Singapore through MediaCorp’s friendliest radio personalities.”

Listeners are invited to vote for the following awards:

a) MediaCorp Radio’s Favourite Radio Personality Award
b) MediaCorp Radio’s Favourite Station Award
c) MediaCorp Radio’s Friendliest Radio Personality Award
d) Carlsberg’s Friendliest Radio Personality Award

They can SMS their votes to 72888 or call 1900 912 5268. Each SMS and call costs 20 cents. Voting begins on Monday, 22 August 2005 and ends on Thursday, 22 September 2005.
