MediaCorp Radio joins hands with Mercy Relief to set up Project PlayPack from 8 January 2006 to 10 January 2006, 11 am to 7pm at Bishan Junction 8, Top of the 8. Come down and join MediaCorp Radio DJs and help the young survivors of the North Pakistan earthquake. You can help simply by pledging a PlayPack priced at $10 each, to the children of the North Pakistan earthquake. Each PlayPack comprises of a reusable back-pack with school essentials and recreational items which are necessary for the children to make a new start in school and also cater to their need for play. You may also add a personal touch to this special gift by penning words of encouragement for the survivors of the earthquake.

Mercy Relief first started Project PlayPack in February 2005 to restore normalcy to children’s lives which have been disrupted by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Project PlayPack aims to re-establish children’s “right to play” – a right recognised by Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. On 8th October 2005, an earthquake, measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale, hit North Pakistan. Close to 100,000 people lost their lives in this killer quake, making it one of the most disastrous earthquakes South Asia has ever witnessed. As part of the rehabilitation process, MediaCorp Radio and Mercy Relief join hands to appeal to the public to pledge PlayPacks to the children of the North Pakistan earthquake.
