A star-studded night at Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007

MediaCorp Radio's Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM are proud to bring together the best of the Malay music industry's talents in Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007 (APM 2007). Honouring the best artistes and celebrities from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, the gala awards show was held on Friday, 8 June 2007, 8pm at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The top accolade for the night was a tribute to Zainal Abidin - a respected musician and conservationist - applauded for having initiated humanitarian relief efforts to protect wildlife and the environment. The inaugural recipient of the Planet Music Humanitarian Award (Anugerah Cinta Planet Muzik), this prestigious award recognises his contributions to society and his important role in supporting environmental causes and helping to improve the lives of others.

Said Ms Zakiah Halim, Vice President (Malay, Indian and Community Programming), MediaCorp Radio: "An accomplished artiste and highly-respected conservationist, the Malay music industry is heartened by Zainal Abidin's unwavering spirit of contributing and championing many environmental causes. This includes creating awareness among the young, physically extending his helping hand in cleaning dirty rivers, committing his time as a Zoo ambassador and most importantly - spreading the environmental awareness through his music."

She also added: "He is truly a committed humanitarian; and this can be seen through his phenomenally-exclaimed song, Hijau (Green) which has now become synonymous with many environment conservation campaigns."

Anchoring the dazzling show was popular Malaysian TV host Aznil Nawawi and Singapore's Suhaimi Yusoff, Fiza O and Fika who were joined by performances and appearances by Malaysia's iconic singer Siti Nurhaliza, Malaysian Idol Jaclyn Victor, Noryn Aziz, Estranged, Altimet, Diddy & Yanie, Indonesia's pop diva Kris Dayanti, Gita Gutawa, Letto, Irwansyah & Acha Septriasa. Closer to home, Singapore Idol winners Hady Mirza and Taufik Batisah, Syed Azmir, Mawar Berduri, Malex, Imran Ajmain & Sleeq graced the event.
