Singapore Radio Awards 2007
Singapore Radio Awards 2007 was held on Friday 30 November, 7:30pm at Suntec Convention Centre, Ballroom 2. A total of 28 awards were given out this year, with five main award categories – Most Popular Radio Personality, Friendliest Radio Personality, Carlsberg Friendliest Radio Personality, Radio Personality of the Year - Media’s Choice, and Most Creative Programme Trailer.
Radio presenters Vernetta Lopez (Class 95FM), Brian Richmond (Gold 90.5FM), Wang Li Zhen (Capital 95.8FM), A B Shaik (Warna 94.2FM) and RZ (Ria 89.7FM) each walked away with two awards. Glenn Ong won Radio Personality of The Year – Media’s Choice (English) for the third year in a row and first time nominee Desiree Lai took home the Most Creative Programme Trailer (English) award.
Previously a closed door Trade event, listeners were for the first time allowed to purchase tickets to the awards ceremony to show their support for their favourite radio personality. 8 lucky listeners won for themselves the exclusive opportunity to co-host on air with their favourite radio DJs, and as a special bonus, a chance to co-present the awards. 2 lucky listeners also each received $10,000 for participating in the SMS voting for the awards.
Hosted by Mark Lee and Suhaimi Yusof, this year’s glamourous event was attended by an audience of 700 who turned up to support their favourite personalities.
