Bollywood comes to Singapore as MediaCorp partners India's
leading FM Network BIG 92.7 FM

Come 1 July 2008, the airwaves of Singapore will resonate to the Bollywood Beat as MediaCorp partners India’s leading FM Network BIG 92.7 FM to offer listeners Hindi programmes on FM96.3 The International Channel.

Set up in 1998 to cater to the expatriate communities in Singapore, MediaCorp's radio station FM96.3 The International Channel currently broadcasts in French, German, Japanese, and Korean. The addition of the new Hindi timebelt "BIG Bollywood FM96.3”, aims to provide quality content to the fast-growing Hindi expatriate community in Singapore, and offer a wholesome entertainment mix to Bollywood fans and listeners who would like to experience the Bollywood culture.

“BIG Bollywood FM96.3” will be broadcast 'live' on FM96.3 The International Channel from 1 July 2008, Mondays to Sundays, 5 pm to 8 pm. This brand new timebelt will include the latest Bollywood music hits, entertainment news, interviews with Bollywood celebrities, comedy capsules, and news updates from India.

The official signing ceremony between MediaCorp and Adlabs Films Limited's BIG 92.7 FM was held on Tuesday 24 June 2008 at Grand Hyatt Singapore. The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Dr. S. Jaishankar, High Commissioner and Mr. Rajesh K. Sachdeva, Deputy High Commissioner, from the High Commission of India in Singapore. Bollywood star Sonu Niigaam also made a special appearance at the event and entertained the audience with a spontaneous song performance.

Says Mr. Tarun Katial, Chief Operating Officer of BIG 92.7 FM, “This partnership only strengthens BIG 92.7 FM’s endeavor to reach out to audiences the world over who are seeking Bollywood entertainment on Radio. We are extremely excited to join hands with Singapore’s most premier and popular Radio network, MediaCorp. After the phenomenal response received from India, we are all geared to entertain people overseas. Our effort is to entertain the Indian diaspora, giving them the flavor of radio, back home. We also believe, with the increasing popularity of Bollywood movies across Asia and the world, there is an international audience who will also be interested in consuming our content.”
