Anugerah Planet Muzik 2009, First Time in Jakarta

Come July, Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) marks yet another milestone as it heads for Jakarta, Indonesia. After 8 successful years, the prestigious awards ceremony ventures out of Singapore and Malaysia, and will be held at Jakarta Convention Center for the first time ever.

The fans are not the only ones who are thrilled with this new arrangement. Mr Amin Hussen, MD of Beyond DDB, Malaysia, says, "The wait is finally over. After 8 years, APM is making its mark in Jakarta for the first time. It is set to be an exciting program and we're all looking forward to it."

APM has gained recognition as the one and only regional Malay Music Awards of its scale. Jointly organized by MediaCorp’s Ria 89.7FM and Warna 94.2FM, APM 2009, which will be held on Saturday 18 July, will bring together celebrities and artistes from the region.

APM 2009 will be presenting a total of 18 distinguished awards categories, including 9 Best categories and 7 Most Popular awards. Two Special Category awards will also be given out, namely the Planet Music Special Achievement Award and the Humanitarian Award, which is into its third year.

The "Best" awards categories, which include Best Male and Female Artiste and Best Song are judged by a panel of distinguished regional music and broadcasting professionals. The supporting fans will determine the Winners for the "Most Popular" categories through SMS voting and song downloads which are opened to the fans in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

APM is more than an awards show recognizing the efforts of the artistes; it also acknowledges the support from the region. Anugerah Planet Muzik 2009 will be held on Saturday, 18 July 2009, 8:00 PM, at Jakarta Convention Center, Plenary Hall. APM 2009 will also be telecast on Global TV at 8pm Jakarta local time, as well as on ASTRO and SURIA from 9pm Singapore and Malaysia Time, ready to entertain an estimated audience of 100 million within the region.
