MediaCorp Radio Subaru Impreza Challenge 2007

Contestants on Car 3 in high spirits after completing their first dinner break at 7pm on Saturday night.	Singapore’s highly-celebrated survivor challenge returns with a twist! Jointly organized by Motor Image Enterprises and MediaCorp Radio since 2002, participants of this year’s challenge can look forward to pitting their strengths in two camps – women versus men. 2007 saw a new record of 77 hours 13 minutes set and the emergence of the first female Champion winner. The MediaCorp Radio Subaru Impreza Challenge 2007 kicked off at 1pm on Saturday, 3 November at Ngee Ann Civic Plaza. It was a battle of the sexes as contestants in both camps geared up to battle the harsh
weather elements and sleep deprivation in their ultimate goal of driving home the Brand New Subaru Impreza 1.5R car prize. With their right palms firmly placed on the palm decals located strategically on the 10 Subaru Impeza cars, 388 contestants embarked on their endurance journey where they were only allowed a 5-minute break once every 6 hours, specifically at 1pm, 7pm, 1am and 7am. Contestants used each break to run to the toilet, recharge themselves with food and water, as well as seek medical attention. The rousing encouragement by the contestants' supporters kept them going as the hours passed.
Kevin Lee, winner of the male category with Sandra Yeow, the ultimate winner of the MediaCorp Radio Subaru Impreza Challenge, basking in the glory of their victories.	After an exhausting 77 hours and 13 minutes, 25-year-old IT Manager Sandra Yeow was crowned the ultimate winner of the MediaCorp Radio Subaru Impreza Challenge, driving home the MI Rally Team version of the Brand New Subaru Impreza 1.5R, worth $68,000. In the male category, 30-year-old Kevin Lee beat his closest contender with a record of 73 hours 55 mins, to win a Brand New Subaru Impreza 1.5R worth S$58,000. Both deserving winners broke the record of 74 hours 59 mins set by Ian Lee in 2004. "This year's results are simply amazing. Both winners have broken the record, with the female champion smashing the 2004 record by a good two hours!
The male contestants tried very hard, but the female contestants were outstanding. Who said women are the weaker sex? It should be the men!" said Mr. Glenn Tan, Group Chief Executive of Motor Image Enterprises.
